Portadas vintage VOGUE / VOGUE retro covers

From 1914, when World War I broke out, fashion and women would never be what they were. During the conflict women came to occupy jobs that were previously reserved only for men. The need to leave home to work required a change in the way they dress: corsets fell, cut the long hair, skirts were shortened, rejoiced dresses, pants and got dared to smoke in public. In 1916, the magazine jumped to Europe and began to publish the English version.

Then came the roaring 20s. After the disasters of the war came the relief, the win to live, the Charleston, the radical change of fashion and the expansion of new industries such as automobile and aviation boom linked to electricity and oil.

Until the 30s different artists were commissioned to illustrate the cover art influenced by the tastes and fashions of the time. In the 1930s the covers began to change. The picture began to gain ground and squeeze hard on the front, to the detriment of the illustrations. The concept of fashion magazine would change irreversibly and forever.

The economic boom in the United States favors a certain democratization of fashion, but fashion designers and fashion shows are still inaccessible to the public, it is easy to know "fads" through the already numerous publications.
